Confident Hong Kong Candidate Won Job Hunting Competition China Grand Final Championship
The inaugural ACCA Job Hunting Competition 2008 – China Grand Final organised by ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) was held last Saturday at the Conrad Hotel Hong Kong with great success. The top winners of the regional Job Hunting Competition in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong with a total of 12 grand finalists competed for the Grand Championship.
Man Wing-sze, Jansy, second year student major in the Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) programme of The University of Hong Kong won the Grand Championship of the Competition out of over 5,000 applicants throughout the regions. Zhang Lu, third year student of Bachelor of Finance programme of Beijing University named the first runner-up. Fung Ka-kei, Lester, third year student of Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) programme of The University of Hong Kong and Zhang Hao, first year postgraduate student major in Law of the Beijing Forestry University were both named the second runner-ups.
The Competition aimed at helping students to equip and polish themselves with the necessary skills required by today's employers. The 12 grand finalists who are the winners of the four regional competitions were divided into three groups and were required to prepare and conduct their presentations based on the questions announced on the day of the Grand Final Competition. The grand finalists were asked to develop business proposals of establishing a social enterprise and present to the group of government officials (the judging panel) so as to bid for a fund of RMB $10 millions. Judges assessed their performance according to their analytical, communication and presentation skills, and performance in the Question and Answer session.
Jansy Man and her team members Zhang Lu, Huang Ji and Qi Xiao Liang had conducted an outstanding proposal to set up a social enterprise to improve public washrooms in mainland China. This team also awarded as the Best Team of the Competition. Zhang Hao from Beijing Forestry University was awarded as the Most Popular Candidate from the online voting on sina.com.
The confident presentation of Jansy Man was impressed by the judging panel. Ms Man was really delighted to have won the Grand Final amongst a group of outstanding students throughout the nation. From this competition, she learnt the importance of teamwork and creativity, and how to highlight her advantages during the limited time frame is also crucial.
Kelly Chan, President of ACCA Hong Kong, was impressed by the remarkable performance of the 12 grand finalists. She said: "In this first time ever China Grand Final Competition, we are all impressed by the high level performance of students from both Hong Kong and mainland China. This is an exceptional opportunity for students to experience and challenge themselves in a realistic recruitment setting.
