ACCA 2008 Sustainability Reporting Awards winners
CRH and Irish Life & Permanent were joint winners of ACCA Ireland’s 2008 Sustainability Reporting Awards with a commendation going to Tullow Oil.
According to the judges, the winners’ reports were credible with strong external verification and recognition. Both reports discussed in detail their stakeholder engagement, feedback process and outcomes and outlined clear objectives and targets. In particular, the CRH report gave a full report of its materials issues on a multi-sited operation and reported on the stakeholder impact of its global operations. Irish Life & Permanent’s report clearly outlined the company’s CR governance and structure and linked the company values with all its key activities.
Tullow Oil received a commendation for its report which, according to the judges, gave a full picture of the company’s activities, used case studies in an innovative way, outlined objectives, targets and performance and communicated effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.
Said ACCA Ireland President Brendan Foster at the presentation, “At the core of the judging criteria are completeness, credibility and communication. The aims of the ACCA Ireland Sustainability Reporting Awards are to give recognition to those organisations which report and publish environmental, social or full sustainability information. We congratulate our joint winners this year and would encourage other Irish-based organisations to follow their example. “
