COMPETITIVENESS KEY TO FUTURE ECONOMIC SUCCESS
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, TD was guest speaker at ACCA Ireland’s (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Business Leaders’ Forum which took place earlier today in the Four Seasons Hotel, Ballsbridge. One of the key points that the Minister emphasised was that while the Irish economy is facing more challenging times, he believed that the fundamentals of our economy are sound.
Minister Martin spoke of the Enterprise Strategy Group’s report “Ahead of the Curve” and its pioneering approach to economic policy implementation. The Minister also identified flexibility, innovation, creativity and the ability to assess risk as key factors in driving the Irish economy forward, the Minister said; “The key challenge facing Ireland for the 21st Century is to effect a shift from an investment-driven economy to an innovation and knowledge driven economy.”
Deane Morrice, President of ACCA Ireland welcomed the Minister’s address and thanked him for addressing the importance of sustainability and its place in ensuring our future economic prosperity.
