Places are available for ACCA’s (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) annual internal audit conference which is taking place on Friday 11 July at the Cavendish Conference Centre, London. ACCA is the global body for professional accountants in the UK.
The conference will explore some key areas of risk to organisations and provide up-to-date views and advice from specialists in their chosen areas. It will also identify where the boundary lies between the capability of the internal auditor and the specialist.
The event is to be chaired by Paul Burden of LV Group and chairman of ACCA’s internal audit network panel and includes the following sessions:
• Business continuity – the dangers of living in the velvet ditch of complacency by Andy Perkins, commercial director, IDG
• Hiring the right computer hackers and knowing when you have been ripped off by Steve Armstrong, technical security director, Logically Secure
• 3 Ps: Approach to successful fraud prevention by Steve Giles, managing director, Highview Consultants
• Using specialist service under co-sourced contracts by Mohammed Khan, chief internal auditor, London Borough of Lambeth
• Project management – science or art? by Jeff Brown, senior manager – assurance, PricewaterhouseCoopers; and Understanding data mining in practice: a guide for auditors by Richard Kusnierz, managing director, Investigative Data Mining.
