Robertine A Chaderton
After completing her ACCA professional qualification in 1983, Dr Robertine Chaderton, who has a background in the natural sciences, pursued an academic career with the University of the West Indies (UWI) where she taught financial accounting, auditing and taxation to students from all over the Eastern Caribbean. Her doctorate, obtained from the University of Manchester, UK, is in accounting and her work experience also includes stints with the financial institutions in the Caribbean region.
In 1999 she started her own business in St. Kitts, Caribbean Consulting Group; she had previously owned a business, P & R Chad Ltd. in Barbados, which provided similar services..
'Many of the students I taught at the UWI from across the Caribbean are my clients; they call on me regularly to provide consultancy services for training in accounting or auditing, internal audit, writing accounting/operations manuals and providing tuition for ACCA's qualifications.'
Robertine has also developed, a successful career in TV presenting. Following the successful completion of her doctoral studies in accounting, she hosted the TV series "Managing Your Money", which was aired in several Caribbean countries and was published as a book in 2000. She has also published several articles, monographs and books on accounting and related topics. She currently lectures part time in management accounting for the Centre for Management Development (UWI)'s Executive MBA.
She gives credit to ACCA for the diverse opportunities opened up to her, and offers words of encouragement to potential ACCA students: 'The qualification has enabled me to work almost anywhere in the world, and to achieve my ultimate goal of self employment. The knowledge I gained has been invaluable, allowing me to make a significant contribution to both the academic and business communities in the Caribbean.'
