Agenda for 28 November 2008
The next meeting of the CRSA Forum will be on 28 November at ACCA in London. The theme this time is 'Raising our Game' as we look at risk appetite and the credit crisis.
Agenda for 1 October 2008
| 9.30 | Introductions |
| 10.00 | How risk appetite is treated in the new risk management standard (a 'code of practice') from BSI Matthew Leitch, Matthew Leitch, Director Matthew Leitch Associates Ltd BS31100 "Risk management: Code of practice" (published October 2008) has a lot in common with previous guidance in this area but has many tweaks that, collectively, raise the bar. It's also unusually inclusive, reflecting the huge committee and many hundreds of consultation comments. Matthew will give some brief background on the standard and its various 'good bits' then focus specifically on its handling of risk appetite. |
| 10.50 | Sure enough to be unsure: Corporate governance and the credit crunch Paul Moxey, Head of Corporate Governance and Risk Management, ACCA Introducing two new ACCA papers that explore the role, or lack, of good corporate governance and risk management in the credit crunch. |
| 11.20 | Coffee |
| 11.40 | Learning from the Financial Crisis Malcolm Lewis, Wizard and Corporate Alchemist, Strategic Value Partners Could we have spotted it, how can we spot something like it in the future and can we spot how it might impact us now? Drawing on the philosophy and psychology of money and risk, Malcolm will outline his ideas then facilitate a discussion. |
| 13.00 | AOB then close (by 13.15) |
The Forum traditionally likes to celebrate Christmas and, as we will (almost) be in the Christmas season, we plan to adjourn after the meeting to Ciao Bella
in Lambs Conduit Street, it is an Italian restaurant described as 'a faithful Italian local tucked away in the heart of London's Bloomsbury, Ciao Bella bursts with a loyal regular crowd and the odd tourist who has their ear close to the ground'. It's my favourite local place to eat and the CRSA Forum Steering Committee have already tried it out and liked it. We are hoping many of you will join us. I am afraid lunch will have to be at your own expense but a good pizza or pasta, drink and coffee should cost under £15.
Places, as usual, are limited so please let Paul Moxey know as soon as possible if you wish to come. I will send confirmations of places and directions on a first come first served basis. Please do not come unless you have a confirmed place.
I look forward to hearing from you.
