Our Environmental Management System
ACCA is in the process of implementing an EMS for its own operations. ACCA has been undergoing environmental reviews (carried out by Environ) since 2000 and there has been some, but limited, environmental disclosure in its annual review. ACCA, using the advice supplied by Environ, is looking to expand both the scope and depth of its reporting practices. Environ's 2005 verification statement pertaining to ACCA's environmental data collection system and performance in 2004 is available.
ACCA has also set up an internal CSR Strategy Group to drive forward its sustainability performance and reporting. The group is made up of senior managers and directors across a range of departments, including HR, Resources, Marketing, Finance and Strategy & Development and it meets biannually to discuss performance against KPIs, ACCA’s reporting, future CSR initiatives and any other issues that arise throughout the year.
After internal discussions, this year ACCA UK has decided to, over the next 12 months, work primarily on designing a data collection and collation system which can be aligned with the recently launched G3 guidelines. This will encompass not only environmental indicator data but also social, for example, diversity and health and safety. This system will be more robust and accurate than in previous years and all relevant members of staff will be briefed accordingly during 2007, to start collecting the data in January 2008. This data will be collated, with a view to publishing the first ever ACCA UK sustainability report in 2009, making it a much more complete and accurate account of ACCA UK’s environmental and social performance.
