This is about extracting information on costs or income and comparing it with actual results.

• Extracting information on costs or expenditure for a previous or corresponding period
• Comparing budgeted amounts against actual or expected income and/or expenditure
• Determining variances and exceptions and reporting on them
• Inspecting cost/income information and reviewing against actual (audit).
